The sermon preached by Rev Prof Norman Drummond CBE FRSE as part of the 11am morning worship and annual muster of the Parachute Regimental Association of Scotland
About Rev Prof Norman Drummond CBE: Norman Drummond started his ministry in the gangland areas of Glasgow and Edinburgh. Moving then to the Parachute Regiment and The Black Watch, to Fettes College as Chaplain and thence, at the early age of 32, becoming Headmaster of Loretto, Norman’s life has represented a personal commitment to leadership and to developing talent in others.
Following his distinguished Headship at Loretto, Norman was appointed BBC National Governor and Chairman of the Broadcasting Council for Scotland and it was during this time that he founded Columba 1400 the pioneering and highly regarded Community and International Leadership Centre on the Isle of Skye (2009/2010 Bank of Scotland/Sunday Times UK Social Entrepreneur of the Year).
Since 1993 Norman has been honoured by his appointment as a Chaplain to Her Majesty The Queen in Scotland. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, he is also Visiting Professor of Leadership in Education at the University of Edinburgh and is an Honorary Doctor of Glasgow Caledonian University.
Norman has also been appointed by The Scottish Government to Chair the Scottish Commemorations Panel to mark the Centenary of World War I and of the 75th Anniversary of World War II.
In June 2014 in The Queen’s Birthday Honours List, Norman was honoured to receive a CBE for public and voluntary service particularly to Young People.
Norman and his wife Elizabeth live in Edinburgh and on the Isle of Skye and they have 5 children and 5 grandchildren.
