The Abbey Choir
The Abbey Choristers are proud to the historic tradition by providing choral music for services year-round. The choir performs a diverse repertoire, embracing everything from Renaissance masterpieces to contemporary works. This ensures that every service is enriched by the beauty and depth of sacred song. At each Abbey service, the choir typically offers an Introit and the Anthem. The musical selections span from the sixteenth century to the present, featuring composers such as Byrd, Gibbons, Palestrina, Handel, Parry, Howells, Finzi, Vaughan Williams, Rutter, Britten, Lauridsen, and Tavener. Depending on the piece, anthems are performed either with organ accompaniment or a cappella.

The Abbey Choir warmly welcomes new members of all ages and backgrounds. Choristers rehearse on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9 pm. While many adult members are experienced sight-readers, the only real requirement is a clear singing voice, as music reading skills can be developed over time. The choir sings at the 10:30am Sunday service each week. Anyone interested in joining the Abbey Choir is encouraged to contact the Minister in the first instance.
