About Story Time

Story Time at Dunfermline Abbey offers a welcoming, interactive experience for young children and their families. The sessions are thoughtfully designed for ages 3 to 5, blending Montessori-inspired approaches that encourage explorationcreativity, and imagination. Each week, children are invited to immerse themselves in an engaging story, followed by opportunities for hands-on play and art—helping nurture their curiosity and self-expression in a gentle, supportive environment.

A Parent’s Perspective

“The storyteller is brilliant, somehow capturing the attention of the children in a gentle way—it’s some sort of magic! My child loves going to story time, especially the puppets and how visual the story is. He loves taking part—picking things out of the bag, guessing the colour—and the storyteller always takes the time to include him. The stories often have a good moral; I especially liked the one about different people having different personality traits, like loud lions and quiet birds.”
