Story Time

Welcome to Story Time!

When: Fridays in March, 2025

Time: 10:30 – 11:30 AM

Location: Dunfermline Abbey Church Halls, 6 Abbey Park Place, Dunfermline KY12 7PD

Come join us for fun and interactive Story Time sessions designed for 3-5-year-olds and their carers. Each Story Time session is designed using Montessori-inspired principles of exploration and play. Children enjoy an interactive story and then have opportunity to respond through play and art, encouraging creativity, curiosity, and wonder.

This is what one parent said about Story Time:

“The storyteller is brilliant, somehow capturing the attention of the children in a gentle way—it’s some sort of magic! My child loves going to story time, especially the puppets and how visual the story is. He loves taking part—picking things out of the bag, guessing the colour—and the storyteller always takes the time to include him. The stories often have a good moral; I especially liked the one about different people having different personality traits, like loud lions and quiet birds.”

What Makes Story Time Special?

1️⃣ Interactive, Immersive Stories 📖✨

We bring stories to life with puppets, toys, handmade props, and movement. Children aren’t just listeners—they become part of the story in their own unique way!

2️⃣ Thoughtfully Chosen Materials 🌿🦁

Our sessions are filled with high-quality toys and handmade props designed to spark creativity, curiosity, and tactile exploration. We also use natural materials that nurture both play and imagination.

3️⃣ A Flexible, Child-Led Experience 🧸🔄

Every child is different, and we embrace that! No story is the same twice—our storytelling adapts to children’s contributions, interests, and ideas. Whether they love to interact with props or listen quietly, they’re free to engage in their own way.

4️⃣ Gentle Transitions and No Pressure 🌱🎶

We offer a relaxed pace where children can take breaks when needed. There’s no pressure to follow every part of the story or activity. Our sessions encourage self-expression and allow children to engage at their own level and comfort.

5️⃣ A Welcoming Space for All Families 🧑‍🤝‍🧑💚

We understand that families have different needs, and we aim to create an environment that’s warm and welcoming for everyone. Whether your child likes to move around, make sound in their own way, or sit quietly, they’re invited to be themselves without judgment.
