Friends of the Abbey

In celebration of the Abbey Church of Dunfermline’s recent bicentenary, we are delighted to announce the re-launch of the Friends of the Abbey Church of Dunfermline by the  programme’s patron, Lord Bruce.

We warmly invite both members of the local community, and friends from around the world who have an affinity and connection with the Abbey Church of Dunfermline, its long history, and its continued work in the lives of people in Dunfermline and beyond.

As the Abbey Church of Dunfermline enters its third century, it is good to know it will continue to be a focal point for the whole community.  Reviving The Friends of the Abbey Church of Dunfermline is an essential first step in this process.
Although the Abbey has been at the centre of Dunfermline’s existence for a millennium, the Abbey Church has also witnessed great moments in popular history: a huge crowd – 10,000 strong- attended the laying of the foundation stone in 1818.
As a new chapter opens in its eventful life, I ask you to support the Friends in their endeavour to safeguard the future of this cherished place.
-LORD BRUCE
