Mid Week Prayers – 5th Nov 2014

As the Abbey is closed during the week for the season, mid-week prayers will now not start again to next year. In the mean time the mid-week prayer will be published here on a Wednesday each week.

God of ancient and present,
Your story weaves through generations
into the lives of this day.
Your truth is not always spoken in obvious ways,
instead it spills it those moments
where Your creation
is reminded of Your care:
in tender hands reaching into wounds
physical and metaphorical,
in working hands
that tend to the task of each day,
indoors or out in open space,
in running thoughts moving on present practice and belief
to new opportunities.

In this month of remembering,
we take time to recall
those who have impacted on our lives
and continue
to mark our thoughts
with the faith they have found in You.
We rejoice in the community
of those who have revealed Your presence
in spoken and written word,
in activity,
and in solitude and silence.
Not all are found in the pages of history,
but instead are found
in the resonance of the spirit and action
of new generations.

Gracious Lord,
lead our thoughts and action
to find You stirring in this day.
Taking time to name the concerns we have
for our world,
our community,
and the lives of those around us,
may You inspire us
to let You lead
so that the peace, hope and dignity
we asks for in our own lives
spills into all creation.
Amen.
