Job Description for Volunteer Visitor Engagement Officers

Role:

  • Usually 2-3 hour slot per week – this is flexible and dependant on availability
  • Welcome visitors and pilgrims to the building
  • Respond to requests for information
  • Support the Children’s, Youth and Families Worker projects as required
  • Be able to offer a basic tour of no longer that 15 minutes.
  • Knowledge of important features within the building.
  • Able to share information about the congregation and its activity.
  • Support Historic Environment Scotland staff when asked.
  • Willing to suggest that donations are helpful to maintain the building, supporting Youth Work, or any initiative that is being encouraged within the building.

Dress:

  • Smart casual.
  • An item of uniform will be provided 
  • Volunteer Badge

Training:

  • An example of a tour
  • Induction with HES
  • Required Safeguarding training when invited.
  • There are basic history sheets, and those volunteering are encouraged to add to this knowledge.  HES will also offer advice when asked.

All volunteers are required to have a PVG certificate as the role involves meeting children and vulnerable adults.
