Job Description for Volunteer Visitor Engagement Officers
Role:
- Usually 2-3 hour slot per week – this is flexible and dependant on availability
- Welcome visitors and pilgrims to the building
- Respond to requests for information
- Support the Children’s, Youth and Families Worker projects as required
- Be able to offer a basic tour of no longer that 15 minutes.
- Knowledge of important features within the building.
- Able to share information about the congregation and its activity.
- Support Historic Environment Scotland staff when asked.
- Willing to suggest that donations are helpful to maintain the building, supporting Youth Work, or any initiative that is being encouraged within the building.
Dress:
- Smart casual.
- An item of uniform will be provided
- Volunteer Badge
Training:
- An example of a tour
- Induction with HES
- Required Safeguarding training when invited.
- There are basic history sheets, and those volunteering are encouraged to add to this knowledge. HES will also offer advice when asked.
All volunteers are required to have a PVG certificate as the role involves meeting children and vulnerable adults.
